Paula joined the Christensen Legal team in June of 2020 as a Paralegal. She was born in Nayarit, Mexico and is the oldest in her family. Paula’s family immigrated to the United States in 1993 when she was just a toddler and was raised in Boise, Idaho. She attended Borah Senior High School and graduated in 2009. Paula knows the sacrifice her parents made by leaving their home country for a better life. She attended College of Western Idaho in 2015 for two years, earning her name on the Dean’s list before transferring to Boise State University.
Paula earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice and a Spanish certificate from Boise State University. She completed a certificate in medical interpretation in 2020 to better serve her community. In the fall of 2019, Paula volunteered at Immigrant Justice of Idaho where she helped with consultations, this led her to seek out an internship with the organization in the spring of 2020. As an intern she helped the with translating documents from Spanish to English, researched country conditions, interacted with clients, and worked on U-Visa applications. Paula knows first-hand how Immigration laws can be complicated and how it affects families. She’s passionate about making a difference in people’s life and is going to pursue a law degree within a couple of years.
As a Paralegal, Paula has worked on family-based petitions, deferred action for childhood arrival (DACA) requests, naturalization applications, provisional waivers, writing affidavits and translating documents. She loves the learning process and knows there is plenty to learn regarding immigration laws. Her favorite part about the job is building relationships with the clients and getting to know their story.
During her free time Paula likes taking hikes on the beautiful Boise foothills, spending time with her family and dog. She enjoys dancing, reading, and journaling. She is looking forward to earning her degree and one day going back to Nayarit to visit the place she and her family come from before traveling around the world.
